Bratislava, 12th February 2008 – At the beginning of the year, the Arca Capital investment group acquired a majority share (93.41%) in GEODÉZIA Bratislava, a.s. Having bought the company with the largest market share in the area of geodesy and cartography in Slovakia, Arca is thus entering a new segment. Arca Capital’s strategic plan is to restructure the company, strengthen its market position and improve its approach to customers.

“This is our first project in this industry and investments in it should reach approx. EUR 2 million in its initial phase. GEODÉZIA Bratislava has great potential thanks to its market position and high-quality management team,“ states Ing. Rastislav Velič, Arca Capital financial manager.

GEODÉZIA Bratislava, a.s. was founded in 1992 after its transformation from the state company of the same name. At present, the company’s shares are traded on the Bratislava Stock Exchange.

The private equity investor’s (Arca Capital) strategy is to continue developing GEODÉZIA Bratislava’s market position and to support its core business, consisting of a compact set of activities and consulting services: work in the real estate register, mapping, creating territorial information systems, and geodesy. Altogether, the company has 14 branches located in the regions of Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and Trenčín.

Its clientele includes for instance: Ballymore Eurovea, Dopravoprojekt, Slovak Telecom, Hydroprojekt, Slovenský plynárenský priemysel. The company also works for the state administration, ministries and state companies (Železnice SR (Railways of the Slovak Republic), Lesy SR (Forests of the Slovak Republic), Mochovce nuclear power plant). It also participates in several projects financed by the EU.

GEODÉZIA Bratislava was also involved in some projects in the Czech Republic: it participated in the project of constructing water mains and sewer systems in the locality of Bílá Orava in cooperation with Hydroproject Brno; in Olomouc and Zlín it took part in creating cadastral maps.
