Ondrášovka has had an extraordinarily busy summer. Ondrášovka was not missing anywhere, where something was happening and has supported drinking intake at events around the whole Czech and Slovak Republic. One of the last events where Ondrášovka closed the summer period in sport spirit was the European rafting championship which was held at the turn of August and September in the south of Czech Republic.

In 2012, the Czech as well as foreign watermen could be pleased by many internationally significant sport events, which were organised by the Association of Watermen in Czech Republic. The world championships of juniors and veterans in six seat rafts, four seat rafts and open rafting of European championships – European devils Extreme Race took place on the south of Czech Republic in České Budejovice.

For several days, the Czech Republic has become the centre of attention of fans of adrenalin sports on wild river and representation crews as well as individuals could follow on success of their predecessors, who gained many titles of world and European champions in recent years.

Almost nine kilometre track on Vltava River has an elevation of 141 metres between Lipno dike and finish at railway stop behind Čertová stena. The crews of R4 and R6 rafts which means four and six man strong groups met in contest for title of European champions.

The first discipline was the time trial, which is actually a sprint on short distance. Based on results, the rafting crews are put into other discipline, which bears the name Head to Head. The same track but both crews at the same time, given certain circumstances, are allowed to do anything including mutual pushing out of the track, crashing into each other etc.

Domestic competitors bear respect around the World. That has been proven by the success of rafters from south of Czech Republic at the latest European Championships to this date, which were held in Italy this year. “The crew of Hanace Outdoor Club Rafters, which is training at Lipno, would like to stand at the winner’s podium again in two years,” concluded the competitor Jan Veber who got points in R4 category this year in Italy.
