Bratislava, February 4, 2010 – Arca Capital wishes to purchase 50 percent plus one of the shares in the well-know Kharkivmetrostroy Company from the State Property Fund of Ukraine. Kharkivmetrostroy is one of the largest construction companies in Ukraine, with more than 500 employees. Among the main activities of the company is the construction of the underground subway system in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine.
Currently, Arca Capital owns a blocking minority share in Kharkivmetrostroy. In 2006, Arca purchased 33 percent of this company and gradually increased its share to the current level of 38 percent. “Kharkivmetrostroy is a construction company with a great future. It is one of the strategic enterprises of Ukraine and receives many government contracts. For the next three years, contracts for projects worth 450 million Ukrainian grivnas have been awarded to the company for the development of the City of Kharkiv, Ukraine,” says Pavol Krúpa of Arca Capital, the company’s future majority shareholder.
The company has several divisions that operate in the construction sphere in Kharkiv, in the Crimea, and some even in Russia. The Kharkivmetrostroy Company also owns a number of interesting objects that can be developed in the future.
“We are determined, together with our partner – the City of Kharkiv, to obtain the controlling interest in Kharkivmetrostroy. At this moment, negotiations are underway with the Mayor of Kharkiv, Mikhail M. Dopkin,” adds Pavol Krúpa. “In cooperation with the City of Kharkiv, we plan to jointly develop the city and to attract additional investors from Europe. We wish to complete the infrastructure of the city, the Kharkiv Metro and to become a stimulus for the overall development of the construction business.
